Films From the National Reconnaissance Office

>>> The films below were created by the US National Reconnaissance Office, the nation's spy-satellite agency. They were recently released because of Freedom of Information Act Mandatory Declassification Review requests to the NRO made by DC-area researcher Michael Ravnitzky. The NRO sent them on VHS videotapes, which have been digitized by tech guru Brett Milner. We've posted them at the Internet Archive, so all links will take you there.

Forty Years of Reconnaissance. This is actually a music video about the NRO. Sample lyrics:

"And we'll be there when you call
Even Friday night's all right
We'll see and hear it all
Taking it on with all our might."

[5min, 37sec]

The Nation's Eyes and Ears in Space [version 1]. Produced sometime in the 1990s, this has the feel of a promotional video. A nice, brief summary of the NRO but quite self-congratulatory. [11min, 7sec]

The Nation's Eyes and Ears in Space [version 2]. Produced sometime after 9/11, this is much the same as the older version (above), although there are some differences. For example, the bit about space-based tethers in the first version has been deleted. [9 min, 51 sec]
