Energy Official Asks Industry Lobbyist to Formulate Policy

"If you were King, or Il Duce, what would you include in a national energy policy, especially with respect to natural gas issues?" |

>>> Thanks to Judicial Watch, the Bush Administration was forced to hand over more guarded documents regarding its energy policy. One of these documents is an email in which Energy Department Senior Policy Adviser Joseph Kelliher slobberingly asks lobbyist Dana Contratto for advice in formulating US energy policy: |

From:
Kelliher, Joseph [mailto:Joseph.Kelliher@hq.doe.gov] If you were King, or Il Duce, what would you include in a national policy, especially with respect to national gas issues? Should I look at any of the gas pipeline provisions in the House EPAct bill that were dropped in conference? I am just looking for your immediate thoughts, please do not put a lot of time into this. I am working up the policy elements, and am less confident of my judgment on gas pipline issues that other areas and thought I would pick your brain. With respect to the Alaska Natural Gas Transportation Act of 1976, I am operating a suspicion that law would have to be substantially amended to serve as a basis for licensing an Alaskan gas pipeline. Do you agree? |
